Meet Our Founder
As Vice-President of Marketing for Time-Life Music, she revitalized sales with breakthrough direct response TV (DRTV) that increased continuity program membership tenfold in just four years.
At Intuit, she managed the direct channel for consumer and small business products. Her integrated campaigns for Quicken and TurboTax included e-mail, web, print, radio, telemarketing, and DRTV, plus over 20 million pieces of direct mail per year. And her unique web up-selling strategies dramatically increased high-end sku mix and average order size.
Marla formed The Response Shop with the goal of helping advertisers develop DRTV that generates response – while supporting a brand.
Marla is active in the Direct Marketing Association and is a frequent speaker at industry events in the U.S. and abroad. She was twice voted Most Valued Speaker at Direct Focus: North America – a high-tech direct marketing conference.
Marla is also the author of the chapters on direct response TV and radio in The New Marketing Conversation: Creating and Strengthening Relationships Between Buyers and Sellers. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and completed two years of postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York.
